Forgive Us
Like all the works in my BOUNTY series, Forgive Us examines the complexities of American Jewish wealth, specifically its presentation as a form of WASP drag. This platter, a silver French antique depicting Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI, was originally owned by my great aunt Hulda. We took it out at Passover during my childhood to hold matzo bread. Now, using both 18k gold and the melted gold teeth of my late grandma Buddy, I have refashioned the platter as a portrait of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. The words surrounding Ivanka and Jared, the American flag, the Hebrew at either end of the platter, and Jared's gold yarmulke are all my additions.
